Calling all zine lovers! Join us for a night of analog making, printing and story telling
If you’re wanting to up your zine game by mixing it with one of the coolest printers ever made, this is the workshop for you! We will go over all the fundamentals of Risograph printing, from the machine’s beginnings to how it works (quirks and all), as well as it’s contributions to the zine scene. We will look at examples of zines from all over the world, learn about different techniques and tools, and something before diving into creating a zine of your own!
In this workshop you’ll be making a 2 colour, classic 8-page zine from a tabloid (11”x17”) sheet of paper using the materials provided. We will start with a story boarding exercise to plan out the contents of your zine before working on the final copy. Once your done creating your zine, we will take it to the Riso where we will print 20 copies and keeping with the spirit of Zine/Riso culture, I always like to encourage a zine swap at the end of the class!

Supplies & Prep
No need to bring anything but yourself! The studio is equipped with plenty of mark making tools (pens, pencils, markers), collage materials, paper, stencils and more.
This is a totally analog workshop, so no need to bring any laptops, tablets or digital tools.
This workshop is designed with creation time in mind, so no need to make anything in advance.
Coming in with a concept for your zine is encouraged, but not required. Having an idea ready to go will give you more time to execute your zine.
Optional: You are welcome to bring in any of your own making/collage materials! Dark colours and high contrast photos will yield the best results.

Your ticket includes the workshop, 20 copies of your zine, various Riso resources (print guide, colour swatches, access to digital templates and more), a zine kit full of extra templates and goodies, printed mark making sheets, and access to DIY printing sessions!

Up to 3 days before the event: Full refund* or credit for a future workshop.
Less than 3 days but more than 24 hours notice: Credit for a future workshop.
Unfortunately, with less than 24 hours notice, no refunds or rescheduling can be offered.

Accessibility
Please note that the studio is located on the second floor of an old building and is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. There is a flight of stairs and no elevator available. I am very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
